Filing Opens Today: Three School Board Seats Are on the Ballot—Here’s How to Run In Mankato MN

📣 Interested in Running for the Mankato Area School Board?

Candidate filing for the Mankato Area Public Schools Board opens today, July 14, and continues through 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

There are three at-large seats on the ballot this November. Each elected board member will serve a four-year term and represent residents throughout the entire Mankato Area Public Schools district.

To become a candidate:

✅ Complete an Affidavit of Candidacy
✅ Submit it to the Mankato Area Public Schools district clerk
✅ Pay the $2 filing fee—or submit a qualifying petition in place of the fee

Candidates must:

• Be eligible to vote in Minnesota
• Be at least 21 years old when taking office
• Have lived within the Mankato Area Public Schools district for at least 30 days before the November 3 election
• Meet the other eligibility requirements established under Minnesota law
